The Second Great Company of Fighting men of the Ultra Templar, between 750 and 1250 men will always be formed into this Company.  Formed primarly from the Agri-World Aerium.  This was the second group of Ultra Templar that were given the right to form their own chapter from so many Templar surving through the years.

The Order of the Broken Sword was created by the Second Company from the Assault Orientated Terminators of the Chapter.  The name Broken Sword comes from when they were soon formed into companies, the Second Company received an emergency communication from an Imperial Outpost concerning an all out attack by marauding band of Chaos Space Marines of the World Eaters Legion.  Making all haste they arrived and quickly opened fire on the World Eaters ships and obliterated them all in space before they were able even to return a single shot.

But the job was not done more then Eight hundred World Eaters were already on the planet laying siege to the outpost with their traitorous imperial guard units.  They quickly Teleported down to the world and attacked from the rear and obliterated all but a handful of the traitorous imperial guard units and made for the World Eaters lines which were already at the base of the outpost walls.

During the attack, Dott Barthos Captain of the Second Squad squared off against the leader of the foul traitors, Sizlak Grimhoof. In the ensuing battle with the traitorous World Eater, Dott Barthos was grievously wounded. With the last of his remaining strength, Barthos launched a ferocious attack. His sword swung in a wide arc, smashing against the head of Sizlak Grimhoof. The blow sheared the World Eater’s skull clean in half, though breaking Barthos' sword in the process. With the Grimhoof defeated, Dott Barthos was filled with righteous fury. Pressing the advantage, Dott and his men pursued the fleeing World Eaters through the region, eventually dispatched them all. In the aftermath of the battle, with his broken sword clutched to his chest, Dott Barthos finally succumbed to his terrible wounds.

On that day, the surviving Knights formed the Order of the Broken Sword, dedicated to stomping out Chaos and protecting the citizens of the Imperium. Dott Barthos's Broken Sword and Grimhoof's cloven skull remain in the main hall of their Chapter Fortess to this very day.

The Order of the Broken Sword are formed from the Codex Astartes with over 150 of them wearing the Tactical Dreadnought Armour (or Terminator Armour) to form the First Company of The Order of the Broken Sword.
